    Update 8/11/2008

    Hello Everyone!

I apologize for the space between updates, but as you can hopefully see, we have been busy. Right of the bat, you can probably see the landing page (www.fanspan.com) looks a bit different. We got a lot of feedback from everyone in regards to the old one (many were frank) and so we created this one. I hope everyone likes it better, and as always we dig any feedback. If you are already logged in, it will send you to your hub.

We also added a distance from zip code feature for the Watch Site search, hundredths ratings for the Watch Sites, massive amounts of new groups and massive amounts of Watch Sites in the Pacific Northwest, embeddable comments, and some style cues that we needed to tweak.

More to come as we plan to officially launch in a week and a half. Stay tuned and thank you for the support.

    Cheers!

    Wednesday 7/23/2008 Update

    Hello everyone,

If this is your first visit and are reading this post, we would like to say welcome to the community. We thank you for looking at our beta testing version of FanSpan. We saw new people in 21 of 50 states visit our site and that number is growing by the hour. If you are new, I would also recommend reading past blog posts in this group and joining the group if you want to be notified of new posts.

We are a virtual community, but we also like to help people find places to watch sports with friends. If you do not see your teams in a search of Watch Sites, there could be two reasons. 1. We have not uploaded it yet. 2. We could not find information for your team. We are uploading as fast as we can, but if you would like to suggest a place, we are all ears.

Above all else we love the new members and activity, and hope with your suggestions we can make this a great sports community. The best way to help right now is for everyone to customize their profile and give us some feedback.

Thanks a lot everyone and we will talk again tomorrow.

    Monday 7/21/2008 Update

    Wow,

What a day. We are making some serious progress and I hope you all have noticed. First of all, I want to thank all of you for your support and activity that is helping us grow the FanSpan Community.

Today we saw the addition of a teams module in the top right hand corner of your profile page. There is a button that will take you to where you can choose your favorite teams. This will help immensely with finding fans just like you around the world. You can search users by team, sport, or zip code if they entered one. It does need a little adjustment to style, but that will be taken care of tomorrow.

We also managed to upload a whole bunch of Watch Sites:

    • Appalachian State
    • Iowa
    • Wisconsin
    • Most of Green Bay

We are doing everything possible to fill our database of Watch Sites, so if anyone has suggestions, just let use know at addwatchsite@fanspan.com.

    Until probably tomorrow,

    Cheers

    The FanSpan Team

    Hi,

Sorry I didn't do much updating yesterday, but the most we accomplished was uploading some of Green Bay (there are 300+) and the rest of the ACC. But today, today was a different day all together.

You may have noticed some of the new style cues. The watch site page now defaults to the advanced search...sweet. We made a cool login tool on the front page in the right column. We added some style to the watch sites so you can find the team and address easier.  Basically we are making the whole site tighter and tighter is good for everyone.

Also last night while you were sleeping, we had a big performance rollout that makes the site work much faster and better. I hope you are seeing the fruits of some serious labor on our end.

We still have a lot to do tomorrow, but we hope to have the sorting of watch sites to be distance relevant. Right now they are sorting by how many members, then when they were made. We understand the problem and Magic Mike is making it work.

I will raise one item to say be patient on. Today with all the changes, we accidently made some of the lettering white. That is hard when you have a white background. All is getting fixed tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Our goal is to be ready for a big launch for beta on Monday. We are calling on all our friends and family to get the word out. We have been working very hard to make this a fun and relevant site for all to enjoy. Your feedback is always appreciated.

    Talk to you tomorrow,

    The FanSpan Team
