  • Profile

    • What is My Hub?

      1. My Hub provides an all-in-one access point for your social networking. It shows the recent activity on your site, allows you to interact with your users or groups you have joined, displays your calendar and any RSS feeds you have chosen to display.
    • How do I change my profile picture?

      1. Click on “my site” in the top right of the page.


      1. In your profile module there is a “change profile photo” link


      1. Or you can go into the “Setup Wizard” in the top profile tab and change it there.


    • How do I modify my personal information?

      There are 3 places you can change your personal information

      Make sure you are logged in:

      1. In the profile wizard you can input your basic information


      1. In the profile tab under edit profile, you can input your favorite teams and more personal information


      1. Location allows you to input your current address and zip code. Addresses are kept private, but the map will show your current zip code. Other members will also be able to locate you by team and zip code.

    • How do I set my profile to private?

      1. Start by making sure you are logged in


      1. Click on “my Hub in the top navigation menu


      1. Hover your pointer over profile and click privacy


      1. Adjust accordingly




  • Photos

    • How do I upload a picture to my page?

      1. Once you have successfully logged into your account, select the Photos tab along the top of your site.


      1. Select the Upload Photo option.


      1. Photos you wish to upload from your computer can be selected with the "Browse" button.


      1. Once you have finished selecting your photos hit Finished! Upload Now!

      1. Please note the following about your photo uploads:
        Max upload size: 2MB
        Allowed photo types: jpg, gif
    • I am having issues with the images I uploaded.

      1. Make sure the image you are attempting to upload is in one of the formats FanSpan accepts (.gif, .jpg).

      1. Make sure the filename is simple and short, with no spaces or funny characters. "bears.jpg" is a good filename "I like the Bears more than life itself.jpg" is probably not going to work.

      1. Make sure the file is less than 2MB. We do not allow images over 2MB.

      1. Large files may take a while to load. Depending on your connection speed and size, uploads could take a few minutes

      If none of these tips help, it's possible that the image is corrupted. We suggest downloading a graphical viewer that can help you fix corrupted pics. Here is our suggestion:

      1. Go to www.download.com

      1. Search for IrfanView and download it.

      1. Once you have downloaded and installed IrfanView, simply run the program, open your .gif, or .jpg image, and resave it as another version (example: in IrfanView, open file named pic01.jpg, and resave it as pic01b.jpg).

      1. Then, simply return to FanSpan and upload your newly resaved image.

    • How many photos can be uploaded on my profile?

      1. There is no limit to how many photos you can upload onto FanSpan although there is a 7 at a time limit to insure uploads are handled quickly and correctly.
    • Is there a limit to file size or number of photos being uploaded?

      1. There is a 2MB limit to photo size
    • Can I edit or move a photo after uploading into my galleries?

      1. No, images cannot be edited or moved between gallery folders once they have been uploaded. If you need to change a photo or move it to a new folder, you will need to download it, make your change, and upload it again.
  • Videos

    • How do I upload a video to my page?

      1. Once you have successfully logged into your account, select the Videos tab along the top of your site


      1. Select the Upload Video option.


      1. Videos you wish to upload from your computer can be selected with the "Browse" button.


      1. Once you have finished selecting your videos, hit Finished! Upload Now!
    • Is there a limit to the size of video being uploaded?

      1. There is a 100MB size limit of video being uploaded. Please remember, size plays a very large factor to how long it takes to upload. Typically uploads run about 3 minutes per 1MB on a cable connection.

      1. Please note, by clicking "Upload" you are affirming that the video that you are uploading does not contain nudity, sexually explicit content, violent or offensive material, or copyrighted images. Allowed video types: mov, avi, mpg, mpeg, wmv, mp4, flv









  • RSS Feeds

    • How do I add an RSS Feed?

      1. After successfully logging in to your site, select the My Hub tab found along the top of your site. Then select the RSS Feed Manager menu item.

      1. From this screen you can manage all of the RSS feeds that you have added to your blog. You may add, edit or delete feeds.

      1. Simply type in the URL of the RSS feed you wish to add to your My Hub page in the box provided.

      1. Next, select how many items from that Feed you wish to be displayed. Hit the green + to add your Feed and you're done! All Feeds added will be displayed on your My Hub.
  • Blogs

    • How do I create a blog post?

      1. After successfully logging into your account, select the Blog tab along the top of your site. Select the Add Blog Post menu option.

      1. You will be prompted to supply a title to your post, a category the post belongs to, and whether you want it to be viewable to anyone, your friends, or kept private.

      1. Photos and videos can be included in a blog post by hitting the Insert Photo, or Insert Video buttons at the bottom of the posting window.
  • Account

    • I can’t create an account.

      1. Try deleting your browser's cookies and temporary internet files and then close all your browsers and try signing up again.

      1. There cannot be any spaces at the end of your email address or verification code, this will error you to the welcome page.

      1. If someone is using your email address please go to the Retrieve Password page to have the password of the account sent to you. You can then go to 'Account Settings' and click on 'Cancel Account' to remove the account using your email address. If you sign up with your email address, then no one else will be able to use it!

          If you have tried all of the above and you were not able to resolve your issue, send us an email describing what went wrong so we can make sure to fix it and get you in the community.

    • I forgot my password.

      1. Retrieve your password by clicking here and following the instructions.

      1. You will need to enter the email address that we have on file for your account. We'll then email your password to that address and sometimes it’s just that easy.
    • I forgot my username.

      1. Your username is what you picked when signing up. If you cannot think of it, you can also use your FanSpan address (i.e. fanspan.com/johndoe) in our recovery tool here here
    • Can I change my email address?

      1. Make sure you are logged into your FanSpan account.

      1. If you are not on your homepage, click “my Hub” in the top right navigation menu of any FanSpan web page.

      1. On the top tab link, hover your courser over the profile link and click account on the far left.

      1. There will be a field to change your email address.

      1. Click on "Save Changes".
    • Can I change my password?

      1. Make sure you are logged in


      1. Click on this link


      1. Input old password and the password you would like to change to


    • I am having trouble logging into my account.

      1. Make sure that you are logging in with the correct password and username.

      1. Clear your browser's cookies and temporary internet files and then try logging in again.

      1. Mac users should use Internet Explorer or Firefox for the best browsing results

      FanSpan may delete profiles if they violate the site's (needs link)Terms and Conditions. Make sure your profile wasn’t deleted by doing the following:

      1. Find your profile on the site. The best way is to type in your (needs link)URL into the address bar (for example, Ryan’s URL is (www.fanspan.com/rlewis). You can also find yourself by doing a search on your name, display name or zip code.

      1. Look for comments you posted on your friends profiles.

      The fastest way to resolve the issue is to perform the above steps. If you have gone through the above steps and still cannot log in, you can contact us here.

    • How do I delete my account?

      1. If you are not on your homepage, click “my Hub” in the top right navigation menu of any FanSpan web page.

      1. On the top tab link, hover your courser over the profile link and click account on the far left.

      1. At the bottom of the page is a delete profile button; Click it.

      1. It will ask you if you are sure, because this is permanent.

    • How do I set my profile to private?

      1. For basic privacy, you can adjust you settings in the profile wizard.

          1. Under your profile tab, click on set up wizard

      1. For more extensive privacy settings

          1. Under your profile tab, click on the privacy setting link and adjust.


    • How do I change my personal information?

      1. Contact us immediately and we will investigate the situation.


    • How do I unblock a member?

      1. In the profile tab, click the manage blocks link and unblock a member.

    • Is FanSpan free?

      1. Absolutely. FanSpan is completely free. Every feature and function is made to be fun and simple for the user. FanSpan is designed to connect sports fans around the world. That is who we are and what we do.


    • What is FanSpan used for?

      1. FanSpan is used to connect with fellow sports fans, find area bars and restaurants that support your teams and be a part of an online sports community.


    • Are official team clubs allowed to join?

      1. Absolutely. This community is what you make it. So if you are an official team club or alumni group, this was especially made for you. Organize gatherings, set up events, post group news or comments; whatever you want to utilize in FanSpan, you are free to.


    • What is considered “copyright” material?

      1. A copyright is a legal right that protects creative content like movies, TV shows, books, sound recordings, music videos, photographs, published articles and other artistic works. The point of copyright law is to encourage the development of new creative content by giving the original creator certain exclusive rights to use the content.


      1. Who is the copyright owner?
        The original creator of the content owns the copyright to start with. The copyright owner can give someone else permission to use the content and can even sell the copyright to someone else.


      1. What rights does a copyright owner have?
        Only the copyright owner can copy, upload, display, distribute, publicly perform, and sell his or her content.


      1. Do I own any copyrights?
        If you create wholly original content, you would own a copyright in that content. For example, if you write and record a brand new song, make a home video, write a poem, or take a photograph, you would own the copyright in all that content. In general, you may post to FanSpan original content that you create because you are the copyright owner.


      1. If I purchase a copy of a copyrighted work, do I own the copyright?
        No. There is a difference between owning a physical copy of a copyrighted work and owning the copyright. If you buy a music CD, you own that copy of the CD, but you do not own the copyright to the songs on that CD. You may not post the songs to FanSpan because you are not the copyright owner of the songs.


      1. Remember -- You may not post to FanSpan.com any copyrighted material belonging to others without obtaining the prior written consent of the copyright owner. It is the policy of FanSpan.com to terminate in appropriate circumstances the Membership privileges of any Member who repeatedly infringes the copyright rights of others.






  • Watch Sites

    • How do I sign up for a Watch Site Account?

      1. Watch sites are created by FanSpan’s admin to insure team identification integrity. Basic listings are free and we are always open for suggestions to add more. If you would like to subscribe to an enhanced site to upload photos, video, menus, calendar events, and great platform to present your business send us an email.
    • Someone is pretending to be my business, what do I do?

      1. Alert us immediately and we will investigate the issue. Please leave us as much information as possible so we can properly evaluation the situation.


    • How do I make adjustments to my business’s profile?

      1. Send us the adjustments and we will be happy to make the changes within 4 hours of receiving your email.






  • Groups

    • How do I block a user?

      1. You cannot block a member from a group you are moderating or own. You can only remove them entirely.

          1. Go to the group in question



          1. Click on the “manage members” link



          1. By every member there will be a link to promote or remove.


          1. Find the member in question and click remove. Note: removing members is permanent and the member will be notified of the change


    • How do I cancel/remove a group I’ve created on FanSpan?

      1. Go to the group in question


      1. Click ”edit information” in the top tab set


      1. At the bottom there is a “Delete” button. Note: deleting a group is permanent.


    • How do I change group moderator?

      If you are an owner of the group you can promote anyone in the group

          1. In the group, click manage member in the top tab set


          1. Pick a member to promote then click promote


          1. A message will be set to the member and they will have moderation capabilities in the group.


    • Can a group be created with any topic?

      1. Absolutely. We have a sports culture, but in many circumstances, pop culture emulates sport (luckily only sometimes). Point being, you are free to set up this community any way you like. Just have fun.


      1. One thing we do not allow is anything hate related. Hate groups, political anarchist, sex offenders and all other bad people can practice their issues elsewhere.


    • Are there limits to how many videos/photos can be placed on a group’s page?

      1. Nope. No limits what-so-ever. The only limit is 7 photos per upload to insure efficiency.


  • Abuse

    • How do I report underage users?

      1. You must be 13 or older to be a member of the FanSpan community.


      1. At the bottom of every FanSpan page there is a “report user” link. Click that and be as specific as possible. We will investigate immediately.



    • How do I remove my child’s profile from FanSpan?

      1. At the bottom of every FanSpan page there is a “report user” link. Click that and be as specific as possible. We will investigate immediately.


    • How do I block a user?

      1. Go to the member in question’s profile and click the “Block User.” This will prevent them from contacting you. A link will be provided to confirm blocking the user.


      1. Once a user is blocked you can manage your blocked users by visiting your Profile page and selecting the menu item “Manage Blocks.”


    • Where do I report spammers?

      1. At the bottom of every FanSpan page there is a “Report User” link. Click that and be as specific as possible. We will investigate immediately.



    • How do I help protect my profile from being spammed?

      1. Although we do our best to eliminate spamming on FanSpan, there is always a chance for unwanted solicitation. If you are feeling spammed, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Report Content” or “Report User” if you know who is doing the spamming. Please be as specific as possible and we will investigate immediately.


    • Someone on FanSpan is bugging/harassing/ threatening me, what can I do about it?

      1. Bugging/harassing/ or threatening is a banning offence at FanSpan. If you feel you are being bothered beyond comfort, click the “Report User” link and the bottom of every page and we will investigate the situation immediately.


      1. If you have been threatened, contact law enforcement immediately.


    • Where do I report abuse and inappropriate content?

      1. At the bottom of every FanSpan page there is a “Report Content” link. Click that and be as specific as possible. We will investigate immediately.


    • How do I report a copyright violation?

      1. Copyright violation is a breach of our terms and conditions. If you encounter a copyright violation, click on the link marked “Report Content” at the bottom of every FanSpan page and we will investigate immediately.
